ASB School Stories

Located in the heart of Mumbai, India, the American School of Bombay is a coeducational, independent, IB day school from Pre-K to Grade 12.

At ASB, we recognize parents’ role as partners in the education of the children in our care.

We strive to create an environment where parents feel welcome and valued and where a high level of trust exists between school and home. Throughout their education, it is crucial that children see their parents and teachers in mutually respectful, supportive roles.

Parent-Community Association (PCA)

The Parent Community Association (PCA) are an essential part of the running of and supporting ASB in its school spirit and community building. The executive committee of the PCA supports different school activities. It also plans social events for the school community. Our 2024-25 PCA Executive Board are:

Parent Grade Level Representatives  (GLRs)

Grade Level Representatives (GLRs) are an essential part of the running of and supporting ASB in its school spirit and community building. GLRs need to have positive past experience with the school, a solid understanding of the operations and how to use our school platforms, and be able to consistently attend the regularly scheduled meetings as well as step up to support larger school community events.

The GLRs are volunteer parents who help disseminate information and answer questions for the larger grade-level parent body on behalf of the school. These parents are invited by the divisional principals with assistance from the Community Relations Team.

Parent Ambassadors

The primary purpose of the Parent Ambassador Program is to support and induct ASB's new families as they transition to ASB, both prior to their arrival in Mumbai and after their arrival to ASB.

Council of Advisors

The Council of Advisors interacts with the Board of Trustees and its committees. They provide a way for the parents to assist the school’s leadership set the future direction. The school's division and department teams act as a sounding board for new initiatives.

Parent As Partners & Education Sessions

Over the course of the school year, there will be several occasions for parents to come into school to attend workshops and information sessions on different aspects of education. The goal is to gain a better understanding of current practices and also give parents strategies to support their children at home.

Parent as Partners Sessions are ways for parents to stay up-to-date with information. Principals are often invited to discuss daily life in Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. To know about the new initiatives, they can join the open sessions with the Board of Trustees or attend the Head of School's Town Hall meeting to discuss the school’s new strategies.

We offer plenty of opportunities to learn about our school, culture, and vision. Parents are encouraged to contribute their time and talent to our community.

Parent Interest Clubs

ASB has a diverse parent community. The aim is to get together to learn new skills and connect. The clubs can be a great forum for personal talents and skills to flourish. This can be anything from cooking, to learning a craft, language or more. This is an opportunity for families to be engaged with other community members to learn something new, have fun and stay connected.

These clubs are run by parents who have skills and knowledge they are happy to share with other ASB parents. Come join a club and engage with other community members, to learn something new, socialize and have fun!
