ASB School Stories

Located in the heart of Mumbai, India, the American School of Bombay is a coeducational, independent, IB day school from Pre-K to Grade 12.

At the American School of Bombay High School, our goal is simple: we expect student growth and look forward to what lies ahead.

The faculty and staff in the high school are here to support and challenge our students academically as well as through our co-curricular program. Our students in the High School are empowered through the development of positive peer as well as adult relationships, as they continue their educational growth.

Our aim is to provide a rigorous and relevant curriculum while developing appropriate relationships with your child. We are a phenomenal learning community, and we are committed to the excellence for which this school stands. That excellence, and the commitment to reach it, is important, but not so important as the need to care for and honor one another.

The purpose of school is learning, and we have learned much from last year, and we are going to be engaged in learning in new ways this coming year; the venue may vary, but the quality will not. And we won’t just be learning the traditional content material, or wondering about exams. We will focus on the method by which we learn, and how we assess. These skills will carry our students into their future confident and ready for their future.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma program assists us in focusing on the ASB Mission. We expose our Grade 11 and 12 students to this challenging curriculum as ASB Diploma, IB Diploma, or IB Certificate candidates. Grade 9 and 10 students undergo studies designed to prepare them for the IB program. Grade 10 students also complete a personal research project. The project is specifically planned to sharpen their research and writing skills. These skills are critical for the Extended Essay required in the IB Diploma.

We also spend time in the High School preparing our students for a successful college experience. Our learning engages them in a challenging course of study, supported by Remarkable Educators, who guide and mentor our students to achieve their personal best. We inspire the students to continuous inquiry so that they become critical thinkers. Along with the ability to communicate better, they also develop creative approaches to challenges in life, at school, and the world.

Extending student engagement in their areas of interest, we encourage students to pursue their dreams and enhance the lives of others through clubs, sports, and leadership opportunities. They can join the Student Council, Jazz band, Model United Nations, take part in one of our many Performing Arts events, and join a variety of special interest clubs.
