ASB was a life-changing experience for me.
To pick one favorite memory from my time as ASB is like going shopping and only buying one thing - it's too difficult! What I can say is that, overall, my favorite thing from my time at ASB is the friendships and people I met.
The friends I made at ASB are some of the dearest people in my life, whom I hold extremely close to my heart. No matter how far apart we all live from each other, the bond stays the same and the love continues to grow stronger.
Recently, in 2020, a group of us went on a trip to Vegas. One member in the group had left ASB during the time I had left and wasn't there when I came back. Hence, I hadn't seen him in 8 years. However, it was so easy and effortless to fall back into a friendship and enjoy our time together. That's the beauty and magic of ASB.
Since leaving Mumbai, I graduated from college (UCLA) and am currently pursuing my Master's in clinical psychology. I'm on track to becoming a therapist with the goal to bring back mental health resources in communities that are lacking in resources and where mental health is a stigma. While mental health has always been a passion of mine, the pandemic established how necessary resources and people in this field are. Personally, I come from communities where I see the gap in knowledge and the lack of resources. Once I graduate, my goal is to open my own private practice as well as work with community centers and religious organizations in my local area to bring more awareness to mental health.
