Great Reasons To Attend ASB

Just the right size. The American School of Bombay is a co-educational, day school of approximately 700 students and 120 teachers. The maximum class size is 18. Our student/faculty ratio is 6:1.

A rich curriculum. The International Baccalaureate (IB) and American educational philosophies are blended to create a rigorous academic program that deepens and broadens the knowledge and experiences of our students. The IB PYP, Middle School, Pre-IB, and IB Diploma programs prepare students exceedingly well for their next school experience, whether it be university or another K-12 school. 80% of our graduates earn the IB Diploma each year.

Enhancing the Lives of Others. Anchored in our mission, our Community and Social Responsibility program gets students into the Mumbai community for meaningful service experiences across all grade levels from teaching English to building homes with Habitat for Humanity.

Talented faculty. Two thirds of our internationally trained and experienced faculty hold advanced university degrees. On-going professional development of our faculty is a cornerstone of our educational philosophy. Teachers and students work together not just in the classroom, but on the athletic field and stage, in student clubs, and during other out of classroom activities.

Festival of Nations. At any given time there are 40 to 60 different nations represented at the school. We celebrate our diversity throughout the curriculum and the entire community comes together for cultural performances and a Parade of Nations once a year.

Capstone projects. At ASB, capstone projects crystallize enduring understandings. Students in Grades 5, 8, 10, and 12 engage in extended research projects around agreed upon topics such as social justice and world religions.

See the world. Students travel internationally throughout Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America for competitions and exchanges in varsity sports, academic bowls, Model United Nations, and music and art festivals.

We’re wired, wireless, and online.  A global innovator in the integration of technology, ASB strives to stay on the cutting edge of best practices that ensure technology tools support and enhance teaching and learning. Our campus-wide Wi-Fi network, 1-to-1 Tablet PC program in Grades 6-12,  and our 1-to-1 laptop program in Grades 3-5 ensure that students and teachers have access to the right tools all the time.

If performing is your thing . . . With robust music and drama programs across the divisions, you can fine tune or discover your musical and theatrical persona. Our Festival Chorus, ES, MS, & HS Choirs, ensembles, jazz bands, and student organized bands perform on campus, in Mumbai, and across the globe.

Week Without Walls. Students in Grades 6-12 participate in a week-long trip to various places across India. The focus of these trips is experiential learning, personal challenge, camaraderie, and community service.

The famous have passed through the halls of ASB. As a hub for the international community in Mumbai, ASB is a venue for well known authors, storytellers, travelers, and diplomats. Our students interact with dynamic individuals drawn to the vibrancy of Mumbai and India.

Finding the perfect match. Over 75% of graduating seniors enroll in their top choice college or university; of those going to the US, 60% attend US News and World Reports’ Top 100 Colleges and Universities. 50% of our graduates matriculate to top colleges and institutions outside of the United States.

Always something new. With over 100 co-curricular and athletic activities to choose from, there is never a shortage of opportunities to explore and participate. From golf to tabla lessons, there is sure to be something that piques your interests.

A Vibrant City. India's center of business and entertainment, Mumbai is never wanting for action. Young, hip, and energetic, the city provides ample opportunities to meet new people, entertain children, and explore the rich culture and history of our host country.

…Speaking of India. Our India Studies program brings our host country into the halls of ASB.  Symposiums, guest speakers, lecturers, performers, and strategic partnerships with Inidan organiztions enrich our school daily.

Not just a school, a community. School is not just for students! An active Parent Teacher Association contributes to school life in many ways from running our Eagle’s Nest kiosk at school events to hosting the annual formal for parents and teachers. The school organizes workshops, trainings, and activities for parents to participate in both on their own and with their children.
